Adventures Galore!

Hello! The next two days are girl/boy scout camps. That means no classes, and lots of fun! I am going with Matayom 1 (7th graders) to Kham Pang Phet tomorrow to tour around the historical parks and museums. And then on Friday, many of the students will spend the day cooking various food (which I will hopefully get to enjoy!). Some of the boy scouts are camping on the field in the back of the school. Supposedly they will set up tents and do the whole camping thing. I am curious how this will work, especially because the field is where I go on my runs...

Then...on Saturday, my friend Karen and I are embarking on an adventure of our own! The Sukhothai province schools have a break from Feb. 2 - 9 so Karen and I are busing to Chiang Rai (a province about 8 hours north of Sukhothai). We will visit our dear friends Paige, Kali, and Brad at their respective schools in Chiang Rai. It will be fun to see what other schools are like, and of course it will be great to see our friends. Plus, I have heard wonderful things about Chiang Rai and the northern parts of Thailand - I will take lots of pictures!

Then it is back to school for about two weeks...and, believe it or not, the semester is over. Time flies like crazy here! I am currently trying to figure out how to grade the students. It is so tough when you see almost 1000 students a week...!

I am trying to "soak it all in" because before I know it, I will be saying goodbye to the wonderful students, teachers, and friends here in Sawankhalok. I am so appreciative of all the people I have met here, and it has been such a great experience.

Thinking of you!
Kate
