Sawadii Ka! I just returned from a lovely but brief trip to Koh Samed. Koh Samed is a "tropical paradise" just four hours south of Bangkok. Think palm trees, white sand, and bluish green water and you'll start to get a picture of Koh Samed. Since it is the closest island to Bangkok, Koh Samed is a popular weekend getaway for Bangkok residents. It is also prime ground for tourists. We were there on Saturday night, giving us quite a glimpse into the craziness of this island. Oceanfront bars, live music on the beach, and restaurants in the sand - just to give a bit of the setting. On Sunday, before we returned to Bangkok, we enjoyed fresh fruit and drinks and stayed cool by swimming in the ocean (which actually wasn't cool at all compared to the Pacific ocean on WA and OR coasts!).
I just received an email today from the school where I will be teaching! It looks like I have 18 different classes ranging from 7th graders to 12th graders! I will meet with most of the classes for only one hour a week, which will make it interesting for lesson planning (and for learning the students' names!). Supposedly the class size usually ranges from 35 - 50 students. I am trying to stay open to all these new experiences, and I am definitely working on "expecting the unexpected" which has already come in handy while I've been here!
Hopefully I will post some more pictures soon! Have a great day!
Peace,
Kate
