Here we go!

Welcome to my very own blog! As most of you know, I am leaving TODAY to teach English in Thailand! I received a grant through the Fulbright Foundation to be an English Teaching Assistant (ETA) at the Sawan-Anan Wittaya School in the Sukhothai Province of Thailand. It is the oldest school in the district (113 years old). If you look on the Thailand map, you'll see the Sukhothai Province above Bangkok and below Chiang Mai. I will be teaching conversational English to high school students! Supposedly there are about 2800 students at the high school...!

For the first month (September 19th - October 24th), I will be in Bangkok doing an intensive training program with the nine other ETAs from around the United States. The orientation program will cover lectures on useful topics about Thailand, living in Thailand, Thai language study classes, workshops on how to teach, lesson planning and syllabus designs, homestays, and classroom teaching in a secondary school in Bangkok.

My plan is to keep you all updated and informed through this blog and hopefully through emails too! I hope you enjoy hearing about my adventures, and of course I would love to hear from you!

Till next time...Kate
